Windows XP Password Protect Folders

Microsoft Windows XP home users

Select the folder you wish to make private.
Right-click the folder and click Properties.
Click the Sharing tab.
Check the box Make this folder private
Click Apply and then Ok.

In order for this option to work in Microsoft Windows XP home you must meet the below requirements.

The hard disk drive must be formatted in NTFS and not FAT32 File System.
The folder you're attempting to encrypt must be in your own personal folder.

If you would like to password protect a folder you must first make a zipped copy folder of the folder you wish to password protect.

Then go to the folder and right click. Go down to send to and click zipped folder. After this is finished open up the zipped folder and click on file at the top. Next click password protect then make up your password and click save. thats it! now your folder is password protected!
